Operation Northern Comfort ceased its humanitarian activities during the pandemic shutdown. Upon the opening of Phase One in Central New York, ONC went back to “work”.
Two projects epitomized the concept of re-purposing. Regrettably a client passed away a short few months after placement of a chair lift. The lift was moved to the home of Marty who is suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.
A wheelchair ramp in Cortland County enabled a lady who experienced surgery on her leg and has recovered. That ramp was disassembled and moved to Oswego County. Sue, our new client, had major surgery on her foot resulting from a case of melanoma.
Despite the limitations of facial covering and social distancing, the volunteers of ONC are anxious to resume helping our community neighbors in need.
