Over the years Operation Northern Comfort has participated in several programs instituted by Interfaith Works (IFW). One of the most significant programs run by IFW is the Center For New Americans. With the influx of Afghan immigrants, and the expected arrival of families from the Ukraine, IFW reached out to ONC for assistance. There is a facility on Salina Street’s north side which stores and distributes all manner of household furnishing for newly arrived Americans, thus enabling them to set up residence. This large auditorium, sized building was in critical need for storage shelves. Over several weeks ONC procured lumber materials and built sections of shelving to be assembled on site. Also pictured below are sections off modular shelving that IFW volunteers will assemble to accommodate small items such as dishware.
